Backlog for Greencard through Nursing?

I am originally from Nepal. I am currently studying in a nursing school as an F1 student and will be done with in one and half year. Once I get done with it and get a employment offer, how long will it take to get Permanent Residency Card (Green Card).

Permanent Residency through employment is a lengthy, complex process that often takes several years. You will need a temporary worker visa in the meantime, and the rules regarding nursing occupations are very restrictive. Consult an immigration attorney in your area to discuss any other options you may have.

I agree with my colleague. Also, you can't work using your F1 visa. You would have to change your status to something else, maybe an H1B then you can start thinking about adjusting your status to a permanent resident.

In your case probably 6 to 8 years. You will have to obtain nonimmigrant status if you wish to remain in the US and work while the green card process is pending.
