How can I find out if someone has power of attorney over me? And if so,how can I get it revoked?

My sister had me committed to a hospital by providing false information to the doctors . She told them that I was suicidal. However, I have never been suicidal in my life. This happened several years ago.
If it's a health care power of attorney, you can have an attorney draft a revocation of previous powers of attorney, which you can keep in your records and pull out when necessary, should she ever try to utilize the power of attorney in her possession. You could also have a new health care power of attorney created which names someone other than your sister.
If it's a property power of attorney, it should be on file at your county court house and sometimes is accessible through the internet . This also needs to be revoked, but the revocation would need to be filed at the court house.
The only way someone can get POA over you is if you give it to them by signing a POA form. You generally retain the power to revoke any such forms, however, so if it turns out there IS a POA, then you could send a letter of revocation to your sister and anyone else who has the POA.
My guess is that you do not have a POA in place. That would normally be something you would remember.
