An "answer" lets the judge know that you are interested in the lawsuit & not to go forward without further notice to you. It is free to file this document. If it is in Judge Millard's court then it must be filed electronically which is a nightmare - her court won't accept papers physically - ugh! I recommend that you hire an attorney to represent you in this legal matter since I suspect that she has an attorney representing her. You can look on this excellent website for an attorney. Many offer either a free on phone or in person consultation. Most accept payment plans. I'd look around and hire one that you like and that you feel "listens" to you. Good luck!

You do need to file a written answer by the deadline. Count the 20 days from the day you were served. If you don't, they can get a default judgment against you. An attorney will help you to defend your interests and I encourage you to consult one very soon.

Please know that you need to file or have one filed on your behalf a written answer within the required time period. This may require that you retain an attorney to ensure the written aswer complies with the require substance and procedural rules. Therefore, please consider interviewing with three to five attorneys. Remember this should not be where first available attorney gets hired as this type of matter can have a significant impact on you and your children's lifestyle for a very long time depending on your children's ages. That said this website can provide you with the contact information for capable attorneys within your area that will allow you a consultation at no cost. After you have selected an attorney retain that attorney and honor their legal advise. Good Luck.
