On October 28, 2010, I I was involve in a pedestrian accident in which I got hit by a 17 year old girl. It was her fault. I have an personal injury attorney who filed a suit in Circuit Court against her . The attorney requested the Insurance Company to submit Insurance Policy. They finally did just recently. Just found out that she had only 50, 000 dollars . It is not enough to cover my bills and other expenses. Can I go after her parents for additional expenses and or placed a lien on their assets and even on her now. She is 19. And also is there a Statue Of Limitations for this matter. Please advise. Thank you for your kind attention in this matter.

The answer will depend on the State laws on point. Furthermore, you will need to discuss with the attorney who owned the vehicle at question. In some States, a parent is liable for the negligent driving of a teen. There may be some documents with the State department of motor vehicles like a parent consent form that may give you a way to pursue a parent. Discuss these matters with the attorney and see if the attorney will send you an e-mail or letter assessing the liability and laws on point for these matters. Good luck.

I would talk to the attorney who represented you on the case. The laws vary from state to state. This is a problem I would check into with further legal advise.

Many variables can allow or prevent this. Consider scheduling a consultation with a local attorney in your jurisdiction to discuss all aspects associated with your case.
