Can my landlord legally sue me for lost rent from the next tenant due to repairs that had to be made?

I am being sued in small claims court for repairs that needed to be made in my previous dwelling. Included in the suit is $900 for lost rent from the next tenant because she couldn't move him in immediately. I need to know if that is legal, and if its not, I need to locate the exact law to include in my counter suit.

If you are really interested in defending yourself and mounting a successful defense you should probably consider consulting, in person, with a landlord/tenant attorney. An attorney would probably charge you for their time in this regard.

Yes, it is legal for your landlord to charge you for loss rental income if the damages you caused to the property were the cause of lost rental income. ORS 90.300 (7)(c)(B) Whether or not you caused the damage and whether the damage caused any loss is a factual question that you may wish to consult an attorney to discuss how to best present your evidence.
