After a judge has a hearing, an attorney drafts a decision for the Judge. He or she reiews the decision to make sure the evidence is summarized correctly and that the appropriate testimony, law and regulations are discussed, and then gives it back to the attorney ofr final corrections. This is the editing stage - where the ALJ reviews it and corrections are made.
It could still be 20 days or so before a decision is finalized. Many hearing offices have a 60 to 90 day wait for a decision to get finalized and mailed due to their backlog, so the time frame is still correct.
A decision in editing means just that. You could be approved or denied - the fact that they told you it is in editing means nothing else - they are editing it.
If you have an attorney, you may wish to talk to that person who can give you better information about the exact time frames in your hearing office.
Best of luck to you.
