I was denied US visa after having Medicaid paying for my pregnancy. What can I do?

I had my son in US in 2009, during that time I had F1 visa. I was eligible for Medicaid for low income, and my hospital bill for my delivery was paid by Medicaid. Now I am back in my country, and my financial situation is better. I would like to get US visa, but I was denied. I can pay for hospital bill to Medicaid, if they can give me a payment schedule. How can I do that? Who do I need to contact? If I pay back, would that guarantee that I will get a visa? Is there any other options? Thanks.

The purpose of your trip and your ability to pay are the most important. Paying back medicaid will likely make no difference. If there are outstanding hospital bills, you may need to get them cleared.

How do you know that this was the reason for denial? Were you told that? Maybe the denial has something to do with non-immigrant intent as you do have a US born child?

I agree with my colleagues ... you should talk to an attorney to be 'de-briefed' as to the interview. Having a USC child is a big negative factor when requesting a tourist visa.
