if you have lived in united states for 15 years is there any law to help me stay in the united states, entered legally the us with a border crosser card. Later got a permit from INS, supposedly card was from seeking political asylum from mexico. I did not know it was this type of permit and therefore when card expired I was no longer authorized for renewal. I missed the amnesty period of 1986 and every year wherever i can work i do give my social security, file taxes and such, yet I would like to get opportunity to fix my legal status.

Your situation is clearly extremely complex, and you definitely need to speak with an attorney to figure out where you stand. If at some point you had filed for political asylum - or an asylum claim had been filed on your behalf - some research needs to be done into the current status of that case. Often, these are denied and end in deportation/removal proceedings which the person sometimes doesn't even know about, and this presents a huge problem. Further the nature of an proof of valid entry needs to be determined, and whether any other case may have been filed for you and when. Not to mention, what your current family situation might be. There are many, many questions which need answers here before your chances of gaining legal status can be determined. I strongly suggest speaking with a lawyer. Good luck.
