Can I get my felony reduced or removed in Tennessee?

I have 2 felonies in Tennessee from 2007. Possession of Marijuana for resale Introduction of Marijuana into a penal facility. I was a young dumb kid that made some bad decisions. I was serving weekends on a underage consumption charge and was bringing pot in the jail with me in my personal items and got caught. Now I have 2 felonies on my record that are keeping me from finding a good career. I have a good job and a family but I want to further my career and this is holding me back. Does anyone know if this can be removed and if so how?

Depending on what level of felony, many states do have ways to expunge prior convictions if you've stayed out of trouble for a certain amount of time after the convictions. You'll need to speak to a Tennessee criminal defense attorney, however, or else contact the court where you got the convictions. An Oregon attorney won't be able to help you.

Do you know if these were B or C felonies? In Oregon, you can have certain charges expunged. I have a lot of information about Oregon expungements on my website at

This question needs to be asked on a Tennessee board. It is a question for a lawyer in Tennessee, because their laws regarding getting something expunged would apply to your current question. Basically, it is not where you live now, it is where it occurred.

You posted this question in the Oregon section, but you need to post it in the Tennessee section. If Tennessee has laws similar to Oregon, there may be help for you. Portland Defender 1001 Southwest 5th Avenue #1100 Portland, OR 97204 (503) 592-0606
