I'm on a J1 visa and want to change my host company. Is that possible?

I'm not happy with my current host company, I'm losing time and not learning anything new for months now and have still on year left on my j1. I got an offer from another company (different sector, but same position). Better paid, I save 2hours of commute but more importantly much more interesting for my career. What are the procedures to take? note: I'm not subject to the 2 years rules.

I am assuming that you received a DS-2019 from a company which is different from the company which has been providing you with training. If so, go to the company which issued your form DS-2019 and ask them what the procedure is for changing the company which is providing you training. If they are uncooperative, then you will have to find another J-1 program sponsor, get another form DS-2019 authorizing training with the new company, then leave the U.S., go to a consulate, get a new J-1 visa pertaining to the new DS-2019, then return to the U.S.
