The 30 days does include weekends and holidays and starts from when you actually vacated. If you vacated on 3/28, your landlord has 15 days to return your deposit if they do not intend to claim any portion of your deposit. If your landlord intends to impose a claim on your deposit, then he or she has 30 days to notify you by certified mail of their intent to impose a claim. After receipt of such notice, you would then have 15 days to object in writing. If you do need to object, I recommend that you send your objection to your landlord by certified mail.

Mr. Fucillo is correct. The important thing is to make sure they have your forwarding address so you can get a notice regarding your security if they send you one. If they don't send you one by April 28 then you have a possible case against them to get your security back. If you did get one, then you should object within 15 days by certified mail. If there is no resolution you can call a landlord tenant lawyer in your area to bring suit against them. Lawyer such as my self sometimes take these cases with the client covering costs only because if the lawyer wins he can get attorney fees from the landlord. Robert D.
