How do I retrieve willed money when a relative is withholding it from me?

Wills And Estates 3 views 3 answers
My great grandmother left me cash when she died now that I'm no longer a minor I am trying to retrieve it and my grandmother is refusing to give it to me. Saying she needs to know what it's for. She even asked when I was younger to take some out to help her son out with rent. This is MY money and yet I can't have it but my uncle is entitled to be helped with it? I'm getting really aggravated I just lost my job and need this to get by for food and other essentials. Please help me!! I don't know how to get my money.

Woah, you need to sit down with a probate attorney as soon as possible in order to get help. We do not know if the will is still in probate, whether there was a trust, and what the current status is of the case. There are a number of different approaches to take. A motion to compel. I motion for an injunction. A motion for for a declaratory judgment. It all depends on the situation.

It sounds like your grandmother is flying by the seat of her pants on this. She obviously hasn't spoken to an attorney or she would know better. Follow Attorney Leroi's advice and get with a probate attorney. All it may take is a letter from a lawyer to get her on the right path and get the money in your pocket.
