Legal representation for felony warrant

Bankruptcy and Debt 2 views 5 answers
My son is on disability so has no money to pay for an attorney, looking for help as he has other cases he was abiding by the court rulings when this felony warrant was filed and he has no knowledge. The charge is for sale and/or transport of a controlled substance. He was arrested on the date the warrant says the incident happened but he was cited for non appearance in court and given a new court date which he went to and has adhered to the judges requirements and knows nothing about this other charge.

Although it will be difficult to find an attorney who will work for free, other than a public defender, many attorneys are reasonably priced and some will work with payment plans. Your son needs to take care of this felony warrant ASAP. Which court is his case out of?

If he cannot afford an attorney, he can request the services of the public defender. The judge will have to determine his eligibility before appointing them. If he is currently on felony probation, contacting the attorney that represented him on that/those cases may also be a place to start.

Hello: Since your son cannot afford a private attorney, and I see that he has already been to court on previous cases, he should know that he can apply for the services of the public defender. Before he gets arrested on the warrant, he should consider going down to that courthouse early in the morning (between 8:00 and 8:30 AM) to the Criminal Clerk's window give them his name and DOB and ask for his case to be sent in to the court. The judge will ask him if he can afford an attorney. If not, he will be appointed a public defender. There is no way to “find out” the details of this new incident until he’s been to court. Good luck. Don Sowers

Your son sounds like he's eligible for a public defender and has had representation in the other cases if they are in the same court house then the cases should be packaged up he should contact who is representing him on the other cases to get the warrant cleared up as soon as possible
