What happens if we did owner-financing, and the "owner" died? We are listed on title, but the owner also had a mortgage.

We paid the owner, and he paid the bank. Everything was done with a lawyer and officially recorded. The property is in NC. He was married, but is divorced from that wife, and that wife was removed from title. However, he re-married another lady who does not reside in NC. Does she have his ownership interest now? What happens to the mortgage that is held by the major lending institution? What should our next step be to get this resolved? Thanks so much.

The mortgage holder's estate is entitled to receive your mortgage payments.

Speak to a real estate attorney ASAP. A lot will depend on when he married the 2nd wife and what the status of payments to the mortgage company are.
