Refused to be sold cigarettes even with an id because the ID had expired.

I walked into UDF today in Mason, Ohio to purchase cigarettes. I am 33 years old. Slight gray in my facial hair and full sleeve of tattoos on my right arm. I don't look 18. I don't look 27. I look like a dude in his thirties. Anyhow, I ask for the smokes and I get asked for an ID. I hand over my Ohio driver's license. She informs it is expired. I said I know. I have 6 months to go get it renewed. I done have the card from the DMV in the mail. She then tells me she cannot accept it and can't sell me the cigarettes because the license has expired. The last time I checked the ID is to prove my age which is clearly stated on the license regardless of if the license is expired or not. What is my course of action here?

Sounds like the store did you a favor by not selling you "smokes"! I agree with counsel, go to a different store. I once saw a store refuse a military I.D. because it wasn't "state" issued. We now have a pretty funny story and we just went next door and bought the beer. Also, don't drive on that expired license. That can be pretty annoying to deal with if you get caught.

Go to a different store. You don't have any cause of action.
