I just bought partnership and got an E2 visa( Canadian Consulate) in September 2013. I have two partners in current business who are US citizen . They want to start new business on side and wants me to have partnership in that business as well. I just would like to find out if there is a way of making amendment in my current E2 visa that I got in September 2013, so I can also be part of their new venture and can legally work on both businesses. Their plan is to open new business in next 6 months.

You would in essence be applying for a new E. In cases where there are multiple businesses we sometimes create an umbrella company, formulate a business plan where the umbrella company qualifies as an E, and then E visa holders can work for all the companies under the umbrella company. This is complicated and I would need to know more about your business, future business, etc. Definitely something to coordinate with a business attorney in conjunction with an immigration attorney experienced with Es. In the short term, I would agree with your attorney that the answer is no.
