What does the law say about siblings of opposite sex sharing a bedroom? If so, until what age? This is not a foster family.

There is no law against this. If there were, authorities would never be able to keep up with busting people for it. For what it's worth, CPS isn't going to care either. I'd fall out of my chair if they bothered opening a file over it. Tell your friend not to lose any sleep over it.

There is not a law restricting siblings of opposite sex from sharing a bedroom; however, there are some apartment complexes that may restrict the number of people in the apartment based on the number of bedrooms. Also, if you are in any type of subsidized housing (such as section 8) they can limit how many people to a bedroom/house.
She needs to get an attorney involved. An attorney can help her secure money and possibly even an operating vehicle from her soon to be ex-husband. If she does not have money for an attorney, have her contact someone like Legal Aid. Here is a link to their website: http://www.legalaidwestmich.org

I never heard of a state law that purported to regulate sleeping arrangements within families.
Not legal advice, just my two cents. Consult Michigan counsel to obtain legal advice tailored to your specific circumstance. I practice in Vermont ONLY.
As a parent myself, I do not see a big problem with a 6 and less-than-1-year-old girl and boy sharing a bedroom. As the kids get older, it may become an issue, but not now. I would kindly but strongly recommend your friend consult with a local family law lawyer to assess her options, and defend her interests against the husband's threats. I wish your friend all the best of luck. Warmest regards, Matt Catchick www.catchicklaw.com
