They had a trial setting scheduled but it was canceled so now they have a plea/trial setting whats a plea/trial setting and can bond be set at this hearing? Its also a felony case.
Every jurisdiction has a different term for it, however, plea/trial setting typically means on that date you are to plead guilty, set the case for another plea date, or set the case for trial. Some court's call it setting/disposition.
I agree with Attorney Fry. Additionally, if the judge has not yet set a bond in the case or has indicated that there will be no bond, the Defendant can request a bond be set through a "Motion for Bond Reduction" and hearing. There are certain notice requirements you have to give the Prosecuting Attorney so that they may contact any victims in the case who have a right to be present at such hearings. This is something you should hire an attorney for immediately, especially if you are facing a felony with no bond, as that indicates to me it is a pretty serious case.
On a side note, if this is at the early stages of the case, you can anticipate seeing a lot of these scheduling changes, or "continuances", as serious felonies take time to travel through the system, and for an attorney to fully gather evidence in the accused's defense in order to adequately prepare for trial.
