We have a $ 700,000 SBA Loan through Shore Bank in Detroit. We are a minority women owned business that roast/ sells coffee to Kroger, COSTCO and Sams, along with Hillers, Buschs. We obtained the loan in May and moved from Ypsilanti to Westland MI in the summer. Our payments are due on the 18th of the month. We have been current with the Bank until the Sept 18th payment. So we will be 43 day behinds on the $ 10,900 payment. When we originally received the $ 700,000 SBA Loan, the bank did not let us keep any money for working capital. Instead they had us pay off all creditors and not allow us to save some cash for the ramp up we are going through with Krogers, The bank wants to file against us on Monday - Nov 3rd. We have $ 50,000 in receivables, which if the bank gave us a line of credit we could have them caught up. We will be receiving Krogers payment of $ 11,000 on Nov 5 and can pay the bank the Sept 18th payment, so then we would only be about 18 days late on the October payment, which would could get caught up by the end of the month. What can we do to slow down/ stop bank. We do have a way through these new customers, coming into our busy season for the Holidays and Winter for Coffee we just need some time.

The terms of the loan and your past conduct with the bank are the best indicators how your future relations will go forward. Although your story would garner sympathy, debtors who are behind on their loans are not the favorite customers of any bank. The best strategy would be to present a clear strategy to the bank on how you will get caught up and sustain regular payments. An attorney could review your loan terms, go over your track record and help you organize your response to the lender.
