Can a step parent adoption be overturned by a biological parent?

Almost a year ago , my husband adopted my son through the step parent adoption. My ex signed over his parental rights, had the paper witnessed and notarized. Today I was delivered a letter from a lawyer my ex husband retained claiming he is going to take action towards the adoption bc he was not notified by me or the courts that the adoption was filed or notified of a hearing. Can the adoption be jeapordized by that or be overturned?

if the court reviewed the adoption and found all the paperwork to be in order then the court must have found his consent and notice to be valid. i would immediately take thjs back to the attorney who assisted you to review the letter. if eveything was in order it cannot be overturned...

Many unexpected things can, and do happen in the natural course of litigation. So provide your attorney a copy of the letter and ask what should be done about it.

Counsel has provided good answers. I would add that there are circumstances that can give rise to a court vacating a prior order. For example, if fraud occurred (forgery, etc.). Without seeing the documents used during the adoption process, it is difficult to give a more detailed answer. I recommend that you speak with an attorney to assist you.
