Recorded phone call of person who was 16 admitting to committing perjury

i recorded my now ex gf on the phone, admitting that her and her mom lied during depositions for my criminal court case. so i am wondering where i legally stand for having recorded her where she was 16 at the time and lives in iowa, but i live in WI and was in WI when i recorded it. would i be able to legally use it in my court case in iowa to get her and her mom's depositions dismissed because of them committing perjury? also what would they receive as a penalty for committing perjury in the state of iowa?

Perjury's a tough one to get the state to charge on. If you want to know if it will help your case, show it to your criminal attorney. We can't give you an answer specific to your case without knowing all the facts and circumstances. No one's deposition would be "dismissed." This would simply go to the credibility of the witness.

First things first, Iowa is one of many states that allow recording of a telephone conversation in which the recording party is also a participant. In your case, you were on the phone with your ex, and presumably, you consented to your recording of the conversation. This means that, for general purposes, you did not violate the law in recording the conversation. Second, you should provide the recording to your attorney. Many's the slip between cup and lip. If you delay getting this into the attorney's hands, the process of making use of it is only make more complicated.
