A person I know can not read or write anything other than own name - is over 50 and has lived and worked legally in the country for over 15 years.

There is a website below where my friend found help with this test. There is an example of sentences and practice guidance. Many local libraries offer classes to adults who are learning to read and write. "Over 50 years" is not too old to learn. Hang in there and do the work. The Muskogee library offers the type of classes that are needed. According to the Muskogee Phoenix: "For more information about enrolling as a student or becoming a tutor call Penny Chastain at (918) 682-6657, ext. 246.

I agree with Mr. Monks. Also, if your friend does not actually live in/near Muskogee, calling the Muskogee library may still produce a solid additional lead to some organization which is closer to your friend.

You should consult an attorney with a practice limited to immigration matters.
