If ice picks you up all of a sudden and you are detained in immigration jail with no bond because you are a aggravated felon for a old conviction do you get deported straight from jail to your country with just the clothes you had on when you first got picked up or do they at least let you go home and pack up your belongings to take with you what happens if at the time you don't have your passport when you get picked up do they make one for you while you are detained

ICE can! No, you cannot go home to pack a bag. If you have family or friends, then they can pack a suitcase with about 40 lbs of luggage and arrange to bring it to the USCIS, where there is coordination. ICE can detain you until you cooperate with ICE and sign consent for it to get a travel document from your nation's embassy. Otherwise, you can be detained, indefinitely, for months, perhaps years. You should secure a passport, or certified copy of your birth certificate, because it will speed up matters for you! Also, you should find out whether you really have an aggravated felony for immigration purposes unless you have already received advice from a very experienced immigration attoney. Perhaps, there is relief or the ICE may have challenges due to diplomatic issues between the U.S. and your country of citizenship. The above is general information and does not create an attorney-client relationship.
