Can my employer transfer me locations without my consent?

My employer fired some one and then told me that they could not rehire for that position unless they hire from within. I was then told I would be moving to that location and taking over that job.

The employer can set the terms of employment and that can include where the job is to be performed. You are free to say no to the transfer. The employer is equally free to fire you because of that refusal unless you have evidence that this transfer is based on illegal discrimination (age, gender, so on) or is a breach of contract.

In a word, yes. Because of the at-will default governing employment relationships in Colorado, employers can set new conditions of employment over time. You could think of it this way: because the employer can terminate your employment at any time and nearly for any reason, the employer can terminate your former position and offer you a position at another location. Of course, this situation would be different if you have a written employment contract for a set term that sets aside the at-will presumption. In that case, the answer is governed by the terms of the contract.

Yes, your employer can transfer locations, work times, and positions on you as needed.
