It may be possible to convert fines into jail time. The amount of time you do is credited by about $30 per day. Speak with a local attorney for a more accurate day count and to to get this converted into jail time.

You need to hire a lawyer to find out whats actually happening, you were put on three years of probation, if a probation violation was filed you may have problems in addition to the fine payments. Assuming that you do not have any issues related to your failure to enroll in and complete the DUI program and do not have a probation violation, a lawyer should be able to modify the sentence to allow for some of the fines to be served in custody, some portion cannot be paid in this way.

Your fines may have been referred to a collection agency once probation ended in 2011. You can try to have the matter recalled and put back on calendar for purposes of having the fines recalled, but I would not expect too much success. Still, you ought to give it a try. You are looking at 176 or 177 days in county jail at $30/day.

It may be possible to convert your fine to jail time. You would likely have to recall the case and bring it before the Judge to convert it. There are other issues that you are likely going to face as well. Since you did not comply with the terms of your probation, it is likely that the court violated your probation on both cases (if there were issues on both cases) for not timely paying your fines and not timely completing the alcohol classes. This could result in extra jail time and penalties on top of any conversion that the court may agree to. In my opinion, if you can not pay the fines, you are better off dealing with this situation sooner as opposed to later. Good luck.

How many actual days you'll spend in jail will depend on the county your jail sentence is in. For example, as of today in Los Angeles, if you surrender for 30 days or less in LA County Jail, you'll get a book and release. If you did the same sentence in Orange County, you'll do 15 days. $5300 - usually will amount to 28-35 days, however, when you're released depends on the county. Please be advised that the base fine cannot be converted to jail time, so you'll likely be left with 800 bucks or so you'll have to pay out of pocket.
