Want to change status from B1 to H1b?

I am on a B1 visa which expires on June 30, and got accepted into a position in a hospital which sponsors H1B visa, however, the hospital doesn't pay for the visa processing, Can I do that by myself, i mean fill the application and send it, or is it necessary to hire a lawyer for that, Thank you.

First, the H-1B cap was reached yesterday, so there are no more cap-subject H-1B to apply for this year. However, if the hospital is "cap-exempt", this may be a possibility. Second, the law requires that the hospital pay all the attorney expenses and filing fees. Please see

Firstly, H-1B petition is to be filed by the employer and the employer is required to pay the filing fees and their attorney fees. If the hospital qualifies as a cap exempt employer, the petition can be filed and if change of status is approved, you may work for the hospital. If not, the employer will wait until April next year to file the petition.

I agree with mr schustermann. You can do it on your own but that doesn't mean you should or you will be successful if you do.
