Confirm what the date of last activity was (check your consumer credit report; contact the debt collection agency preferably via a certified letter; or verify your past payment records via archived bank information.) If you brought the account back to current status inadvertently then the SOL reset. If the date of last activity has been inaccurately reported by the agency then talk to a lawyer offline who can help you avoid getting hit with a default judgment. Best of luck

It is not improper to bill you. It would be improper to threaten you with suit or the consequences of suit.

There is a four year limitations in texas for breach of contract. At this point, if you are past that point, the debt is no longer enforceable. You doNOT want to make a payment under these circumstances as you may also restart the limitations. They can still report the debt even after the four years but they can not threaten you with enforcing it against you as that would be an FDCPA violation. If they don't file a suit by the deadline there debt should not be enforceable.
