Is there a Legal Form to use for an Estate when presenting a Report to the Courts on the Estate? I am the Independent Admin.

My first and second court dates I presented a report on the Estate activities as an "Inventory Sheet". I made the report in a Excel Format including date, check no., description and amount paid out. The Court accepted this information both times. My third Court date the Judge said I did not have the information in the correct format. Is there a different format I should use and is there a format I could download from my Computer? Thank you.

Be careful with this. If you do not have an attorney you probably should retain one. Check avvo for a listing of attorneys. Good luck.

Generally, inventories are fairly simple to prepare unless the estate is very complicated. You might wish to consult with a probate or state planning attorney to show you how to properly prepare the form. Often as Excel spreadsheet is acceptable, but apparently your judge would like to see it in a different format. It might also be the case that your XL spreadsheet does not contain all the information necessary for the inventory. Go speak with a lawyer.

The probate courts each have their own filings and forms but you can get help from a Probate Attorney's office who might be willing to work on just certain portions and not others. Worth a discussion. See 'Find-A-Lawyer' at the top of this page.
