My lawyer rarely agrees to respond to my questions via email.

I have explained to him that I had a brain injury , and do not follow/hear conversations so well. That is why I need to email, but it seems to bother him. Is what I am requesting so bad?

If that's what you prefer, then that is what he should use. I find email easier, but i'm also of a younger generation that grew up with a computer, maybe he's not as comfortable with email.
Nothing requires your attorney to communicate with you via email. That being said, he is required to communicate with you one way or another. Ask him to write you letters, then.

What you are requesting is reasonable and it appears necessary based upon your limitations due to TBI. That said, your attorney is in the best position to determine whether the communications between the two of you are sufficient for him to do his job. If you feel he is not doing his job, then you may want to switch attorneys.
Many older lawyers refuse to use e-mail to communicate with clients. However, I think a request to communicate by e-mail is reasonable. If you are unhappy with it, you may wish to consider switching lawyers. Personally, I would probably not hire a lawyer who did not communicate via e-mail. Good luck.

Some lawyers, especially much older ones, are not comfortable with email. What you are requesting is not very odd, but it could be the case that you and the lawyer are just very different in terms of how you prefer to communicate.
