Quite possibly, yes. Beyond litigating cases in court, lawyers play an important role as advocates in situations such as this: identifying legal issues prospectively, gathering and documenting information, getting parties to engage in meaningful discussion, and trying to craft a solution before the situation decays to the point where litigation is necessary. If you are having difficulty getting your insurance company and the property management company's to talk with you, an attorney may be a very productive investment in managing your risk. On the other hand, legal representation is an investment, and you have to decide for yourself if the investment with worth while. Some attorneys offer free consultations, as I do. I would recommend scheduling a few free consultations to gain perspective on your options and the attorneys' respective personalities. Look for an attorney who you can afford, who has the time to meaningfully engage with this issue, who treats you as a valued client. Above all, look for an attorney that you can trust.
