Hi , I am trying to travel to US virgin islands in a week, I am an f1 student but my i-20 has just been terminated. But I applied for my papers about a month ago through my wife who is a US Citizen. I have already bought tickets and its non refundable. When i went to puerto rico they never asked me for any documentation? Is it safe for me to travel?

In your particular situation I would wait until obtaining my I-131 advance parole travel document before traveling. Hopefully you've applied for that one together with your I-485. The US Virgin Islands are not the same as Puerto Rico. You never know what can happen. An advance parole takes no more than 60 days to issue nowadays.

Since you have an adjustment of status application pending, I would advise you not travel until you receive your green card.
