Can a plaintiff be awarded for each case after winning the judgments in different settings against the same employer?

My sister won a retaliation (discrimination) case against her employer in Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights and the decision for awards is still pending. She also won a national origin discrimination case against the same employer in Superior Court (a Jury trial), the award decision is also still pending. The Superior Court case is older than the Commission case. If the Superior Court issues the award decision prior to the Commission's, can that decision makes the Commission's decision moot or worthless? What about if the Commission issues the decision first, what could happen?

These are excellent questions for your sister to discuss with her counsel so she can get reliable advice based on her particular case(s).
