Hi. I have applied for L2 VISA EAD work permit. I sent the required documents to USCIS and got the receipt number from them. Can I start working with that receipt number? I read in some site that L2 can work with the receipt number from USCIS. Can some please help me out here to understand whether i can work or not. Thanks..

USCIS say "Spouses of L-1 workers may apply for work authorization [...] If approved, there is no specific restriction as to where the L-2 spouse may work." - If approved you may work. If the application has been received, you may wait until they approve it.

Just having a receipt number is not the same as approval.

You cannot work with a receipt as a receipt is merely an evidence of filing. It is not a decision. Your EAD application can always be denied and the work you did prior to the decision would be unauthorized, which is a reason for denial of any non immigrant visa.
