We are working overseas (not Americans) but our daughter is an American citizen, 19 years old & is studying in Ole Miss. We want a friend to be a legal guardian since under Mississippi law it is 21. Can she file the guardianship form - downloaded from the internet & file it in court by herself. What is the proper procedure? Any free legal aid service in Oxford, MS. Thank you.

Downloading forms from the internet is largely a waste of time, particularly in a situation such as this where you'll need some non-standard documents to accomplish your goal. Hire a local attorney and get it done correctly. As long as both parents, the child, and the prospective Guardian are all in agreement, this shouldn't be very expensive.
