Is the Miami Asylum Office experiencing delays?

I applied for political asylum in July. Biometrics were done in July and I was interviewed in August the 13th. Officer told me that my decision was going to be mailed since I am in status. So far I haven't received it. Is this normal? Should I take this as a good sign?Should I write them or just wait?

The queue for Miami asylum decisions has slowed down based on resource allocation and the influx of new claims. The Officer was correct to state you would get it mailed to you as you are in status - much better then being out of status then you would get a NTA. Delay can also be for a need to check you background and or the Country profile may be delayed based on changing circumstances, etc... Good luck.

did the asylum officer indicate whether he or she believed you submitted sufficient documentation to corroborate your persecution claim? If you are not sure . Have an attorney assist you submit additional documentation Ans arguments while your application is still pending without a decision

Yes. All eighth offices are experiences major delays with significant backlogs. It appears you are caught in the backlog and, if so, it could be many months before you have a scheduled interview. Good luck.
