My boyfriend passed away due to neglect and malpractice. We have lived together for over 13 years. Always thought we were considered married. Tried to marry at hospital but doctor's blocked due to brain damage. He was upset and said he could understand but i was helpless dependent on daughter in Missouri

No. There is no commom law marriage in California. There ate documents he could have had, giving you decision making piwer, but without those, you have bo status. I am sorry.

There is no common law marriage in the State of California, unless you and your boyfriend entered into some agreement stating so. You may want to see if your boyfriend added you as a Paid on Death beneficiary to any of his bank accounts. If so, then this money would be yours. Also, did he have any insurance? If so, then check these too for beneficiary designations.
