In Maryland, does extraordinary medical expenses include over the counter (OTC) items and other general care items?

My divorce decree says I pay a % of extraordinary medical expenses. It does not specifically state what is included so we follow the state definition which is vague and says uninsured, reasonable expenses over $100. 1. Is ex allowed to cumulate expenses to reach the $100 threshold. If so, over what period of time. I read bare v bare and it shows expenses can be cumulated since definition says single expense or condition where condition can be long term (chronic) 2. My son has diagnosed allergies and gets shots. No question about deductibles and copays for doctor visits and prescriptions. But ex is saying i need to pay over the counter Allegra. 3. My son has stomach irritation and doctor recommended otc fiber supplements and probiotics and ex says I need to pay for that too

It will need to be argued and decided by the judge. You will likely be required to pay towards those things considered treatment, but not things that are just simply beneficial. This is up to interpretation

The court generally finds that extraordinary medical expenses includes those expenses in which a doctor recommends be used to help the specific illness/condition. There is no set time frame that a party must get to the $100 threshold, so long as it can be proven that said expenses were for one specific illness/condition.

I agree with the prior postings. The outcome could also depend on the jurisdiction and/or master or judge hearing the case. Consulting with and attorney may shed light on how you could approach this issue.
