Is there any way to reduce points on a speeding ticket that has already been paid for?

My daughter is told she is ineligible to take the traffic course to reduce points because her ticket was in a construction zone on the freeway. She received 3 points and has already paid the fine, but now her insurance rate is going to double or more. Is there anything we can do?

Depending on how long ago she paid the fine and got the ticket, you MIGHT be able to convince the Judge to set aside her plea, and re-open the case to allow a lawyer to negotiate a better deal for her. Time is of the essence in your daughter's situation, so my very humble but very strong advice to you is to consult with and retain a lawyer ASAP to try and help her. I wish your daughter all the best of luck. Warmest regards, Matt Catchick.

There might be a way, but she will need to hire an attorney for this, to try to get the judge to set aside the plea and negotiate it down to no points.

I agree with my colleagues. Hiring an attorney to file a motion to set aside plea is your best option. Hopefully, it is not too late. There is a time limit on this matter. Consult a local attorney immediately. If the judge will set aside the plea, and she has a good driving record, perhaps your attorney can get a W/H and no points.

As both the other counsel stated, you should immediately contact the court to see whether you can set her plea aside. Get an attorney who is experienced in these matters to help guide you. If she accumulates enough points her license can go up for review and possibly risk losing her driving privileges. Best regards.
