Signing a waiver

Business 2 views 3 answers
My boyfriend got arrested for domestic violence . With that came an order of protection . Being that we live together and I'm having health issues and pregnant I don't work . With an arrest your TLC license gets suspended so now he can't even work . I explained to the DA he left the home and I'm happy but im feeling stressed that I can't work and these issues are affecting my heart. I just want to get rid of these problems and he explained I can come sign a waiver. What does the waiver do. He said it removes the order of protection etc

It may be a waiver saying you want the order of protection modified to allow him to communicate and/or live with you. Your question is a bit unclear. It may also be a "decline to prosecute" form meaning you want the case dropped. Neither one is guaranteed though, it depends on the DA and the judge. good luck

It sounds like you're happy this violent guy is out of your life. What do you want? Do you want him back in? Then try to work with the DA to get charges dropped against him (bad idea). Do you want his license restored so he can work and pay child support? Then work toward that. I just can't tell what you actually want, so maybe thinking through that question is the best place for you to start. Good luck!!

Only the Judge can vacate the Order of Protection. The DA may be asking you to sign a form asking them to drop the case but read it carefully so you are not tricked into signing a supporting deposition, which the DA may need to go forward with the case.
