Can I use IRS Form 12277 to have two tax liens removed from my credit report?

Currently I have two tax liens on my credit report and they have both been paid off. They were filed back in 2010 and 2011. I'm trying to find ways to improve my credit score because for a couple years I was in a rut and didn't have much money to pay bills (mostly hospital) that accumulated. On top of that these liens happened and now my credit score is almost in the dumps. I've finally bounced back from that time and don't want it to affect my financial future.

Probably. But if the liens show as paid on your credit report, its possible that any IRS action on your for 12277 will not cause the credit bureaus to remove the entries on your report.s
If the liens are being improperly reported then you can contact the credit bureaus reporting the information and ask that they correct it. I would send a short letter via certified mail explaining the error and including a copy of any document to support your position. Make sure you keep a copy of all documents you send them and that they go certified mail. If the bureaus do not correct the error within 30 days then you should contact local legal counsel as there are federal and state laws that may help you to correct the error.
The instructions to the form indicate that "At your request, we will notify other interested parties of the withdrawal notice. Your request must be in writing and provide the names and addresses of the credit reporting agencies, financial institutions, and/or creditors that you want notified." So, yes, that form may be helpful in cleaning up your credit reports. However, you should also deal directly with the credit reporting agencies.
