Can my insurance company's adjuster ask where I was before the auto accident in question? If so, can I refuse to answer?

I was recently involved in an auto accident after consuming about two drinks in about two hours. I was probably at fault in the accident, though I don't believe that I was over the legal limit. I was not given a ticket at the scene or given a breathalizer. I am concerned that when I speak with my insurance adjuster about my claim, they will ask about where I was prior to the accident and I will have to disclose the drinking. I am worried that my disclosing the drinking might somehow void my coverage, reveal the drinking to the other party's insurance and or/law enforcement. Will they only ask about the details of the accident itself or should I be prepared to talk about the drinking?

As you were not charged with legal intoxication, I don't think you have much to worry about. You should be truthful with your insurance carrier. They are there to protect your interests. If the question comes up just tell the truth.

It looks like you dodged a bullet, but best bet is to not drink and drive again, as it will catch up with you. Typically, you need to cooperate with your insurance company as laid out in your policy.

Your insurance company is obligated to protect you, so be truthful with them. The fact that you were drinking will not void your coverage. If you stipulate that you were at fault then the fact you were drinking is really irrelevant.

You should be up front with your insurance company and be truthful as they are trying to protect your interests. If you were not cited by the police at the scene, then you were likely not intoxicated. Therefore, you being at a bar is a non-issue as far as fault is concerned.
