I am Canadian, can I sue this American Company?

Bought a Corn stove on Oct 11, 2014. I have a receipt for the item. On the receipt there is a written guarantee stating "30 day money back ..... the 30 days start from the day the weather turns cold enough to use this stove" After back and forth contact with him about the stove breaking 4 times in 2 weeks (he kept trying to fix it with no results), the guy told me I can return the stove and he would give me my money back. I arranged for the unit to be shipped back to his business, but he refused to get in touch with the custom broker so it can clear customs. Fast forward 3 weeks later, he is not answering any phone/emails/texts.

Yes, you can sue an American company. Whether you have a viable lawsuit and one that is worth filing is another story. You should consult in person (or via skype, email or telephone) with a litigation attorney who practices in the county where the company is located to discuss your details.

While you can sue, it will not be worth your time or money. It will be very expensive to file a lawsuit and any benefit if you do win will be grossly outweighed.

Sure, and perhaps there are many stoves such as yours that are defective with bad service, so a class action lawyer may be interested. has a great lawyer finder tool to locate an attorney close to your home. Good luck.

Anyone can sue an American company, provided suit is filed in a venue appropriate to that company, ie the U.S. It may be too costly to be worthwhile but talk to a lawyer to determine if it is worth pursuing.
