If you control and have a business operating outside the U.S. and you own and control the E-2 business in the U.S., you need to take all the information about your businesses to a qualified and experienced attorney to assess your case for options.

As you must be well aware of it by now, an E-2 Treaty Investor visa does not lead to a green card, unless your E-2 business here has been set as a "subsidiary" or affiliate of any foreign owned and operated business you have, which I doubt, for if you did, it is for the L-1A visa you would have applied and not E-2..
The only possible ways to obtain a GC for you and your family are:
1. Either one of you "winning" the DV green card "lottery" visa;
2. A prospective employer petitioning either your spouse or yourself for a job offer for the future;
3. Increasing the amount of "investment" in your business to over $500,000 and seeing if you qualify for the GC through the EB-5 category; and etc. Consult with an experienced lawyer in private.
You should schedule a consultation with a competent immigration attorney. Only through a consultation at which an attorney can ask you a series of questions to understand all of the facts can he or she give you sound advice. Some attorneys offer free initial consultations.
