I have reported multiple child porn blogs on tumblr so that they can report it to the police so they can take care of the person. I shut down about 80 of them and cleaned up the site for a long time and there isn't as many now. However I have to send my laptop out to get fixed and I don't want to get into trouble for something I didn't view for sexual gratification. The proof I have on yahoo mail I cant get into because it is asking for verification code sent to my phone and my number changed so I cant get in. Can I get into trouble for this, I plan on becoming a police officer and I find this stuff online repulsive.

Tread lightly friend....you're on dangerous grounds in my opinion. It appears you've been acting as an undercover "cop" but without the protections that come with being an actual sworn peace officer. You could be a child porn fan who has devised a clever defense. I would be very careful sending your laptop out for repair....

I agree with my colleague except that in my opinion sending your laptop out for repair is irrelevant. I know from experience in these cases that Homeland Security monitors these sites from afar through special software. If your computer 's IP address consistently shows up on these sites HS is already aware of it. Whether your activity is enough to generate a federal prosecution is questionable but in these cases the feds usually hand off the file to the local DA so the state can prosecute. You chose a dangerous area to get involved in.
