What does a pending bench warrant mean?

I was late for my trial calender court and now my Lawyer will not return my calls and the court clerk say that the warrant is pending. What steps should I take if my Lawyer keeps not returning my calls? How can I resolve this without going to jail
A pending warrant means a warrant has been issued. If there's a pending bench warrant then there is a warrant out for your arrest for missing your court date (an FTA--failure to appear--warrant).
If you cannot get a return call, schedule an appointment to speak with your attorney in person. You are represented at this point so your attorney needs to be your conduit to addressing the warrant issue as soon as possible.
The clerk most likely meant the judge hasn't signed the bench warrant yet. You need to assume the warrant is active. If your lawyer won't return your calls you need to get a new lawyer, and get this cleared up ASAP. Once this is cleared up you can deal with the lawyer you have now, and try to get your money back.
Contact the State Bar through gabar.org about your lawyer not returning your calls. A bench warrant is issued for failure to appear at a scheduled criminal date. The court may also send notice to DDS to suspend your drivers license if your case is a traffic case.
You need a lawyer to quickly help you with this. Otherwise the only way a bench warrant will get cleared up is through your arrest.
