Minor committed minor shoplifting($5) from a gas station but was not stopped in store. However it was caught on tape, but before it was brought forward the minor turned 18. What would be be tried as and what would be the charges

Up to the Court to determine whether they will charge as an adult or a minor. Since it was such a minor charge there is a good chance the State would leave it as a juvenile matter. Prior criminal history would play a part in that decision as well.

Theft would be the charge, and it would be up to the prosecutor to try to charge that as an adult, which probably would not happen.

Arguably charged as a minor since under 18 when the crime took place. But it would be up to the prosecutor.
