Paternal grandparent rights?

Business 2 views 1 answers
My boyfriend & I are having a son together. He has never been very close to his family. He has also expressed that he doesn't want our son anywhere near his family. We lived with his dad for a couple months mainly because we had no other place to go. We don't live with him or near any if his family now. His family has never asked about our baby or expressed any interest in him whatsoever. Is there an paternal grandparents rights in my state? We're not married & the baby isn't here yet, but he is taking my last name. Do they even have any grounds to try for visitation?

The short answer is no. While grandparents have the right to pursue visitation in court, so long as the parents are not found to be unfit, the grandparents cannot force the parents to make the child available.
