Why was my son released from jail , without posting bail, and told to go home. Why were the charges against him changed

My 23 year old son was arrested for solicitation of a minor, taken to a County Jail on a Thursday, released on Monday My son has no criminal background, His property was returned to him and he was sent home, he was re-arrested 9 days later by the FBI, charges were changed to attempted online enticement of a minor. How do I find out why he was released from jail and why the charges were changed . No one will tell me these things. Who should I call?

Charges were likely dropped by the state because the federal government picked up the charges. Now he is in very, very serious trouble, sounds like federal crimes. Charges can and do often change. The police do not charge, they merely say what they think charges may be. He needs a lawyer ASAP. I have practiced in federal court in Texas many times, and can tell you they will take this very seriously.
He needs a lawyer experienced in federal criminal defense, which is more complex than state court. It sounds like the state case was dismissed because the feds are moving in to prosecute the case instead. Generally, federal sentencing is much worse than the state, especially in this area. He needs an attorney immediately.
Call an attorney! Immediately. Your son needs an attorney with experience defending Federal Cases. This is serious. No one will tell you anything because although you are his mommy, your son is an adult. This is his problem.
