Soon to file question about parenting class

Divorce 2 views 3 answers
I am filing for divorce, still working on getting things in order, cash etc. I wanted to know if it was possible - feasible, to go ahead and take the required parenting class I will need to take now, ahead of time? Can I take it online, if so can someone advise me through a link so I know I am taking the right thing? I just would like to get this out of the way and I also am on vacation now and I have free time currently.

You should probably wait until you file to take the class in case you don't file, but there is no requirement - you are allowed to take it ahead of time. The courts generally have a list of approved online classes for their circuit or county. The ninth circuit is www.ninthcircuirt.org and their site actually has a lot less information than other counties, but if they don't have the list you can find the information on the program for assistance for people seeking to divorce without attorneys. The assistance is limited and does not include legal advice but they may be able to provide you with the list of approved online classes.

You should probably wait until after you file. I do not know where you will be filing your divorce, but there are some judges around Florida who require that you take a live class instead of the online class.

Feasible? Yes. Practical? No. Can you take it online? Probably. If you think you can do the divorce all on your own, you are wrong in my opinion. There are many things that yo do not know, which an attorney who does these things for a living does know.
