Disturbing/threatening text message

Bankruptcy and Debt 3 views 4 answers
I received a disturbing text message from someone who was trying to be with my wife's sister. He was upset that he could not have his ways with my sister in law and started to send my sister in law demanding messages recently. Earlier today, this same person texted both myself and my wife and said he has "the means to inflict severe hardship, pain, and suffering" and can do whatever he wishes since he has nothing to lose. What can or should I do to protect myself and my family?

Both my colleagues responses are on point. This man is unhinged and the police should be notified now. Your attempt to notify them must not cease. You and your family need to be very careful. Follow up with the police in the morning. Save the text for evidence. You will want to get restraining orders issued against this individual. Good luck to you.

You should immediately contact your local police.

I agree with Mr. Brookman and would immediately go ask your local police to file a report for assault before it becomes a battery.

In additional to contacting local authorities, you may also want to contact your cell phone provider to see about blocking the calls and/or text messages from the individual. You may even be able to do this yourself if you use one of the major cellular carriers by accessing your account online.
